The Silver Ring Choir of Bath is for mixed voices and has an enthusiastic and friendly membership of 80 singers. It has a varied repertoire and a reputation for entertaining audiences and supporting charities from its many concerts.

How we began
Sixty years ago, in 1951, Kelvin Thomas MBE (the 92-year-old founder-conductor) went around the village of Bathampton knocking on doors to find singers for the new choir he was forming. Little did he know that the Choir would be successful in so many competitions and would travel all over the country and the world. The Choir is run on professional terms and rehearses in the centre of Bath.
Who are we?
Choir members come from a fairly wide geographic area around Bath, from Chipping Sodbury to Shepton Mallet! They also bring to the choir a range of musical experience. The common factor is enthusiasm!

Where do we sing?
The choir in Canada
Concerts, of course! But also:
Weddings, remembrance services, festivals, parties, civic events, competitions …
All over Bath: St Michael’s, St Stephen’s, St Luke’s, St Swithin’s, The Abbey, the Guildhall, The Forum, Bath Cricket Club, Kingswood School Theatre, The Royal Crescent and many churches outside the city.
All over the world: Ireland, France, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, Hungary, Belgium, Scandinavia, the USA, Singapore and Holland so far. We have strong exchange links with visiting choirs.

What do we sing?
Our music ranges from Mozart to LLoyd Webber; from Bruckner to African chants; from Verdi to Cullum! We tend to sing short pieces rather than long choral works. Members love having the opportunity to sing in a great variety of styles.

Is there a social life too?
Absolutely! The social committee arranges events for members, their partners and their friends. The choir members are extremely caring towards each other and have built up strong friendships.
